Flavina - Guardian of Aquilonia

Description

Flavina, one of my many warrior ladies. She is inspired by the online game Age of Conan and my Aquilonian guardian playing character from there.

Although this is technically fan art, the gear and armor are not pure game designs. You won't find armor like that in the game. It was more that I took some basic lines from the game designs and created my own armor style from there. So this is more like an armor which I would like Flavina to have in the game.

As guardians are front line fighters whose main purpose is to engage the strongest enemy melee fighters and keep their attention on themselves, she is wearing heavy armor. I wanted to create the feeling of an heavy armor without it being a full plate, therefore some chain mail parts were added.

And finally I want to ask something from you. I draw a lot of females with armors but do my "warrior ladies" look too manly? Are they too broad shouldered or wide thighed? Please give me your honest opinion and some critique if you see that it's needed. I myself try to give you at least two reasons why the case might be so:

1. My opinion is that "real" warrior ladies cannot be fashion models. If you have used to wear a heavy armor already from your youth, your body shape has become sturdier even if you were a female.

2. Second reason is more "optical". I have used glasses almost all my life and as I am quite near sighted my glasses are strong. This seems to affect my vision as the glasses cause everything I look to be more narrow than they really are. When I first time used contacts I was surprised how wide and big ordinary things looked. But as glasses are much more comfortable to my eyes than the contacts I usually wear them when I draw. Therefore I most likely see my drawings to be more narrow than those really are.

Tell me how you see them. :)

Fantastic as usual.

I've actually become inspired by your work, as I'm currently working on an extensive Skyrim-Fallout crossover, and one of the characters will eventually wear a crossover of Skyrim Chainmail and steel with modern riot gear, currently having a lot of fun with the lore of both worlds XD
